MARS Mineral Administration Registry Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan Industry and Resources
Anne worked closely with the client in a business analysis role to establish the business requirements for the MARS system, which is a fully integrated online tenure acquisition, management and administration system. It is a web-enabled application driven by a web map server which allows miners to acquire mineral claims and manage those claims online.
Anne wrote use cases to support the development of the pilot system, created the designs for the pilot, and implemented the designs using CSS. Anne also created an extensive training manual for staff to use when assisting stakeholders during the pilot review stage. View the screen design on the portfolio
page.

Oil and Gas Commission British Columbia
This project involved evaluating the current website to determine where it could be improved andupdating the information architecture of the site to allow the Oil and Gas Commission's clients to find forms and other information more easily. Anne designed the new layout of the website, created all the graphics including a flash element on the home page, established the navigation, and implemented the site using CSS for design and layout. The site is made available for the client to update using Macromedia Contribute as the content management tool. The site is available at http://www.ogc.gov.bc.ca.

allhealthcarejobs.com
IntraVision Software
Anne created an updated look and feel for this high traffic job search engine that focuses on jobs in the health care industry. While the functionality of the website was good, the user interface was not attractive and was implemented using table layout. Anne created the new design and implemented it using CSS. iDRIV - Motor Vehicle
System - Development Phase
Government of Yukon
As part of the development team, Anne was responsible
for drafting the css and all jsp pages to match the design developed
in an earlier
phase of the project. Once screens were developed, she conducted screen
review sessions with the client.
Anne was responsible for leading the test effort including writing the test plans, writing test cases, conducting system testing, establishing and configuring a defect tracking tool, and managing the status of the test effort.
Anne also designed and developed the online user assistance for iDRIV. View the draft
help system.

eMining Online
Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources
Anne worked with the client to refine the existing business
requirements and then developed the screen designs for the eMining
System. She conducted screen review sessions with the client in
preparation for their user acceptance testing. She also developed
an Online Guided Tour of the system, which acts as a training site
for new users.
View the eMining
online guided tour.

Property Assessment and Taxation System
Government of Yukon
Anne conducted business requirements sessions with the client and transformed
the requirements into use cases using Catalyze software.

Student Financial Aid System
Government of Yukon
Anne worked with the client to develop business requirements
for a web enabled application that allows students to apply
online to the Advanced Education Branch for funding. She identified
business rules and wrote the use cases using Catalyze software.
Anne also created the screen designs, mocked-up each screen for
client review, and assisted in writing the
design document. See the screen design on the portfolio
page.

Premium Assistance Online
BC Medical Services Plan
Anne designed the user interface for Premium Assistance
Online, a web application that enables the public to apply for
financial assistance to reduce their Medical Services Plan premiums.
See the screen design on the portfolio page.

iDRIV - Motor Vehicle System -
Design Phase
Government
of Yukon
Anne worked closely with the client to in a business
analyst role to establish business requirements for iDRIV, a new
web-based motor vehicle system for driver licensing and vehicle
registration for the Government of Yukon. iDRIV
is an integrated system that supports driver licensing, vehicle registration,
sanctioning of both drivers and vehicles as well as searching the Inter-provincial
Records Exchange.
Once business requirements were complete, she then
designed the user interface including the general framework,
all graphics, screen design and user assistance design.
Anne used a client-centered approach to interaction
design to ensure that the user interface met client needs and
business requirements. This required extensive interaction with
client staff, facilitating numerous workshops and screen review
sessions, and managing diverse and sometimes diametrically opposing
staff views.
See the screen design on the portfolio
page.

ArcLibrary Data Transition Project
Pacific GeoTech Systems
Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management
Anne was the project coordinator responsible for
coordinating activities between Pacific GeoTech Systems’ team
of GIS spatial specialists and Ministry of Sustainable Resource
Management headquarters and regional staff. This GIS project involves
spatial data migration of the legacy Regional Warehouse (ARCLIB)
information from ESRI ArcINFO coverages to ESRI ArcSDE layers.
Anne's primary task was to track the progress
and status of each dataset being transitioned to SDE layers and ensure
the symbology became available in iMAP BC. In addition to project
coordination activities such as status reporting, time tracking,
and issues resolution, Anne was also involved in developing the
process for transitioning data to the new format and development
of quality assurance procedures.

Mineral Titles Online
Ministry of Energy and Mines
Mineral Titles Online is a web application that
allows miners to acquire mineral titles over the internet using
the Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management's internet mapping
framework. Anne created a flash-based demonstration of the claims
acquisition process. Watch the
demo.

Corporate Online
Business Corporations Act Project
Corporate Registry - Ministry of Finance
Anne designed and implemented the user interface and user assistance for Corporate Online, a web application that enables the public to file Business Corporations Act forms and pay filing fees over the Internet. The system includes a staff view, so that registry staff can enter information submitted by the public on paper forms.
Her work on the user interface and extensive help
system for Corporate Online contributed to the team effort that
resulted in Corporate Online winning the 2004 Public
Sector IT Award.
The implementation of Corporate Online made British
Columbia the first jurisdiction in the world to provide online incorporation
in real time. It increased the operational efficiency of the Corporate
Registry by eliminating 25 staff positions, cut the amount of paper
handling by 80%, and enabled the Ministry of Finance to meet its
current and future budget targets.
One goal in developing Corporate Online was to design it so that it would be easy to use by experienced and novice users: both corporate lawyers who use the system often, and inexperienced small business owners who may not be familiar with the internet. Anne's work on the user interface and extensive help system contributed to the team effort that resulted in Corporate Online winning the 2004 Public Sector IT Award in the "Public Value / Electronic Service Delivery - Project over $1 million" category.
In addition to the user interface and help system, Anne also developed and maintained an extensive project website.
User Interface
The user interface was implemented in a java environment,
using CSS for layout and design. Anne edited the .jsp tags directly
and is therefore familiar with JavaBeans and the Apache struts and
tag library. She also created all the graphics used on the system,
including the Corporate Online logo. Parts of the application are
available to the general public at www.corporateonline.gov.bc.ca
Help System
Anne designed and developed a complex help system to accompany Corporate Online using RoboHelp technology. The help system is available to assist clients as they move from screen to screen using context-sensitive help topics. It also includes filings overviews, downloads of paper forms and information packages, and flash demonstrations of each filing.
The Corporate Online help system is available at https://www.corporateonline.gov.bc.ca/corporateonline/colin/WebHelp/colinhelp.htm
Flash Demonstrations
Anne created flash-based video demonstrations of the Corporate
Online application. These videos demonstrate actual filings, step
by step and at a speed the client can control. They can be viewed
by clicking the "demos" button on the Corporate Online help system.
Or, you can access them directly at https://www.corporateonline.gov.bc.ca/corporateonline/colin/WebHelp/demos.htm
Customer comments
These are just a couple of the many customer comments received about Anne's work:
New Interface for Small Business Clients
Anne also developed an alternate interface for
Corporate Online designed for the novice internet user
who files forms for their own small business. Because of the legislative
change, every company must "transition" to the new Act. This interface
assists the novice user file an annual report, create a company
password, and transition to the new Act all in one transaction
with one payment. See the
prototype.

Electronic Justice Services
Project - Analysis Phase
Court Services Branch
Ministry of Attorney General
The overall objective of the Electronic Justice Services Project (EJSP) was to develop new web-based systems to enable lawyers, and eventually the general public, to file court forms and documents over the Internet.
Anne produced a number of brochures outlining the features of the three systems: Court Services Online, CourtNet BC, and Sustain21. These brochures were used to support a series of presentations to demonstrate and obtain feedback on the proposed functionality of the systems.

Administrators (IACA). The CARS Help System, Frequently Asked Questions
and Guided Tour were deemed "Best of the Web."
This system was designed using ForeHelp.
Anne created and maintains the project web site, which includes a Frequently Asked Questions section and an online guided tour of the web application.
The online guided tour allowed the Registry to show the screens to its audience and receive feedback prior to the launch of the system. It is also used as an ongoing training mechanism.
Anne also assisted with design of the new paper Annual Report Form.

Driver Fitness Web
Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles (OSMV)
Ministry of Transportation
Anne designed the User Interface for Driver Fitness Web, a web application that enables staff from the Insurance Corporation of BC to access information about driver fitness cases from the Case Management System owned by the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.
Anne also designed and developed a help system to accompany Driver Fitness Web using Robohelp technology.

Company Act Project
Corporate and Personal Property Registries
Ministry of Finance
The Company Act Project was initiated to develop
and implement Corporate Online, a new computer system that will
enable the public to file Company Act forms and pay filing fees
over the Internet. As project writer, Anne created a number of brochures
and presentations outlining project status, system design, and user
interface. She also created "guided tours" of the new system and
its forms as well as surveys and other public information material.
Anne conducted an evaluation of help authoring
tools that can be used to create a web-based help application, and
developed a model and prototype of a help system for Corporate Online.
As a business analyst, Anne facilitated
a series of workshops with registry staff, developers and user interface
designers to review web screens created by the designers to ensure
they met business requirements, and document the requested changes
for the Corporate Online system.
Anne developed a Quality Assurance process to ensure
the user interface met system specifications and business requirements,
and documented required updates to the user specifications and screens.
Anne was also responsible for maintaining
the project web site.
